The first smartphones running Android Go will be presented during the Mobile Congress in Barcelona. This was told by Google’s senior vice president Hiroshi Lockhammer. According to him, the event will be shown at once several devices based on the light version of the OS in order to provide consumers with more choice.
Android Go is a light version of the original operating system from Google, designed for devices in the lower price segment. Since such devices have not more than 1 GB of RAM and a processor with low processing power, the simplified Android Go makes them stable.
Google has long been preparing for the advent of the market for devices on Android Go. To this end, the company’s developers released simplified versions of proprietary applications, thereby reducing the amount of space on the disk. Almost all applications marked Go is compatible only with Android version 8.0 or 8.1, depriving owners of aging devices of the ability to install them.
